A Wander Through Wandsworth

As someone born and bred in Wandsworth, and who still lives in the borough now Jack is brilliantly placed to guide you through some of the borough's most fascinating places and stories.

Our walk starts at Wandsworth Town Station and takes us through the "Toast Rack" area of Wandsworth and takes us to meet some of the Huguenot refugees who are now buried in the borough. We'll continue along to one of the "Waterloo Churches" celebrating the victory over Napoleon. From here we'll make our way to arguably the most famous building in the borough, Wandsworth Prison, which has housed everyone from Oscar Wilde to Reggie Kray. You'll hear stories of executions and how there has only been one successful escape from the building in its history.

We'll continue onto some of the 175 acres of Wandsworth Common and hear the story of the failed building of one of the world's biggest telescopes. We'll continue into part of Wandsworth's now famed "nappy valley" before eventually ending our walk at Clapham Junction Station.
